The Pilates Studio

Pilates as a corrective exercise balances and strengthens the pelvis, hips, low back and deep support muscles. This helps prevent injuries and minimizes problems from pre-existing injuries. At Colorado Physical Therapy Institute, P.C. we have seen a great success with using Pilates as a part of our rehabilitation program. Combining Pilates with our experienced manual therapy techniques has improved the successful outcomes for our patients. We have used Pilates for neck, knee, back, and shoulder pain as well as workers compensation injuries and other pre and post surgical injuries.

Due to the success of our program we have decided to add to our Pilates equipment. We have now accumulated 3 Pilates Reformers and 1 Reformer/Trap table.

In addition to Pilates being a part of our rehabilitation program we also offer private, semi -private, and group classes in the Reformer, Mat classes, and Pilates on the gym ball.

What is Pilates?

As corrective exercise, Pilates balances and strengthens the pelvis, hips, low back and deep support muscles. This helps prevent injuries and minimizes problems from pre-existing injuries.

Pilates is often proven effective in the treatment of:
  • Acute and Chronic Back Pain
  • Osteoporosis
  • Sports & Work Related Injuries
  • Auto Accident Injuries
  • Head Injuries
  • Scoliosis

Medical Professionals recognize the therapeutic potential of the system, and many hospitals and clinics now offer Pilates for injured and physically challenged patients.

The Reformer and Half Trapeze

The reformer takes Pilates to a whole other level. This piece of equipment will help to strengthen your muscles without increasing the bulk. The reformer uses springs and a spring's resistance increases along a continuum. The muscle that is challenging the spring is challenged along this continuum.

Mat Pilates

The exercise in the mat series are the heart of Pilates. There are different levels of mat; beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Everyone that is a novice to Pilates should start at the beginning level.

Pilates on the Gym Ball

Pilates on the ball is primarily concerned with aligning the body, isolating and training deep postural muscles, and building torso strength without reinjuring or harming the body. With the ball you can isolate a particular body part.

"(Contrology) develops not only the muscles of the body, suppleness of limbs, and functioning of the vital organs and Endocrine glands: it also clarifies the mind and develops the will."
